about

Went out to the studio on this 2021 Winter Solstice, a clear night here in East Tennessee and wrote this little melody. When I was a little girl, I used to star gaze with my dad. He was an amateur astronomer, made his own telescope and kept meticulous records about every celestial body he viewed. I spent so many cold winter nights outside with him, star gazing. I don't know if I was really interested in the star as much as just spending time with Daddy. And I hated to think about him being outside alone. I also loved the sound of the names of the stars, so many of them Arabic, like Aldebaran. I thought that was the most beautiful sounding name in the world. I still do. Maybe I should have named my son Walker 'Aldebaran.' Aldebaran might have suited him.
